Additional comments
Five(?) field maples bundle planted in a line to form part of a hedge on top of a bank above the track and on the edge of the field. The trees now have one large root ball: there are five large trunks and several smaller ones.
It was not possible to measure the trunk girths because they are not easily accessible, but it was estimated that they were between 150cm and 175cm. There is a holly growing from the bottom of the bank just below the main root ball of the maples. These form part of an old hedge loin which includes oak, ash and hawthorn trees. These are probably veteran trees. Approximately 30 meters south in the same line of hedge are two more field maple trees of similar size, maidens and with a common root, but these are not accessible because of dense undergrowth and a small stream between the track and the trees.
