This survey records the sycamore trees around the edge of the churchyard.

Additional comments

Starting in the west on Church Lane by the entrance to the car park:
1. Girth: 377cm at 150cm (veteran). Tree has large elbow branch at 1.3m on north side which becomes vertical. Trunk forks into 2 at 2m. Some small growths around bole. Indented trunk, flaking bark, hole in trunk at 1.9m on north side where old branch has fallen out. Moss and lichen on trunk and branches. (Photo DSCF 5284).
2. Tree 10m east of above, girth: 271cm at 150cm. Indented trunk, low branches cut off below 2m. Disc on tree with number 0627. (Photo DSCF 5285).
3. 10m East of above, girth:289cm (veteran). Large side branch to east has girth of 168cm approx 150cm from trunk.Trunk measured above side branch. Trunk forks at 2.6m with a vertical branch at 2.2m. Flaking bark, indented trunk, growths from bole. Lichen and ivy on trunk. There were no keys on trees 1-3. (Photo DSCF 5286 and DSCF 5287).
4. Tree on corner of lane and side track running north to field. Trunk splits into 4 at 2.3m with vertical trunks. Bark missing in places on north side – heartwood exposed. Indented trunk, flaking bark, large roots. This tree has keys. Grass growing in fork on trunk.Hole at 2m where branch fallen out.Lichen. (Photo DSCF 5289).
5. 20m north of Church road junction on east side of churchyard.Girth: 355cm at 150cm (veteran). Trunk forks into 3 at 2.2m. Large healed scar where old branch cut off on south side of trunk at 2.3m. Young growths around bole. 2 north trunks have grown together to leave a hole (photo DSCF 5291).Hole in trunk at 1.5m where old branch fallen out, next to small branch. Flaking bark and indented trunk. (Photo DSCF 5290).
6. 10m to north, girth:413cm at 140cm (veteran). No keys. Trunk forks into 3 at 1.6m Centre trunk forks again at 3m. Flaking bark, ivy and lichen. Magnificent tree. (Photo DSCF 5292).
8. 20m north in North east corner of churchyard. Girth 252cm at 150cm.Trunk forks at 2.8m and 3.2m into three upright trunks. No keys. Flaking bark, some small branches broken off. Lichen and moss on trunk and branches. (Photo DSCF 5293).
9. Tree is on north side of car park entrance and is the eastern tree of a pair. Girth: 247cm at 150cm. Maiden with side branch to south at 2.3m . Branches cut off between 1.4 and 1.8m. Large roots, indented trunk, fissured bark, many shoots from bole. No keys. Ivy and lichen on trunk. (Photo DSCF 5298)
10. West side of car park entrance. Girth: 416cm at 30cm.(veteran). Trunk forks into 3 at 30cm above ground. South trunk forks at 1.5m, others are single and straight. No keys. Growths from bole, fissured bark.
Girths: south trunk: 212cm; middle: 147cm; north trunk 156cm.
