Additional comments
Beautiful specimens. One old, small (1.96m) and extremely gnarly with hollowing in the base and epiphytic growth at the point where it has been pollarded. One small branch is dead with evidence of much insect boring. The other larger (2.83m), its roots splaying to make a beautiful shape as they enter the ground, covered in moss. The two similar photos taken of the line of trees show the large specimen in the foreground, one of the pictures shows the smaller hornbeam immediately to the left, half obscured, looking mossy.
