Additional comments

A group of 6 Monterey pine trees on island which were planted by the grandfather of a friend of the house owner at so they are though to be between 100 and 130 years old. (The owner reported that they were Scots pine but I think that they are actually Monterey pines. There are several of these in Cranbrook). They were probably part of a line that marked the old boundary of the garden of the Barracks house which was destroyed when the A26was re-aligned to the new roundabout. This small piece of land and trees were left behind. See also survey no 1050.
The trees have been surveyed from east to west:
1.308cm at 150cm above ground. Old trunk has been cut off approx 150 cm above ground level. Maiden. Trunk measured above point where second trunk removed.
2. 347cm at 150cm above ground. Two trunks above 2m, north trunk has had a large branch/trunk cut off.
3. 357cm at 150cm. Maiden with many branches removed below 5m above ground.
4.467cm at 80 cm above ground. Large branch extends above 80cm on east side. Ivy growing on trunk. Maiden.
5. 366cm at 150cm above ground. Two trunks,
6. 402cm at 150cm above ground. Alarge branch fell off tree on SW side in gust of wind in summer 2013. Other branches removed to height of 5m above ground. Maiden.
There is a rookery in trees 1-3. All trees have TPOs and all are veterans. All trees have very deep indentations in bark.
Tree no 6 may have to be felled as it is potentially dangerous, and if so tree no 5 will have to have the top taken off as it would be exposed to strong gusts of wind.
