This tree's story

This has long been acknowledged as a veteran tree in Swanley, which was only established as a village/town in the late 1800s, when the railway came. The tree may have been in Garrolds Wood mentioned on old maps.

Additional comments

The tree is in good health. Looks like it may have been coppiced once. Big branches come out around 2 metres up. Surrounded by other well-spaced youger oaks in an area of woodland in front of The Woodlands hall. (Photos added Feb 2013)
