This tree's story

Sadly this tree blew down in November 2014.
In the summer of 2015 the stump and part of the base of the broken trunk was carved to represent a group of owls, three sitting on the stump, one flying from the base of the broken trunk. The interior of the hollow stump was carved to represent feathers, and around the outside of the stump were carved the head of a badger, a rabbit, and some steps. These were dedicated to Bernard Head who had been the treasurer of the Bearsted Woodland Trust on whose land the tree grew. The photographs show the carvings, fallen tree and stump and were taken on 8 and 11 March 2016 by Stephen Foster..
